Information for New Horizons Montessori Academy (NHMA) Families and Faculty
Our top priority has, and always has been, the safety of your children and families. We share your concerns about COVID-19 and will continue to keep you informed of the measures we are taking to keep you and our communities safe.

We are grateful for your continued trust in NHMA and are confident that we will get through this together by adhering to CDC guidelines and maintaining open and transparent communication.

SCHOOL OPERATIONS
NHMA is following the guidance and directives from the Pennsylvania state and local government and local health departments when making decisions regarding whether to remain open and/or reopen. In addition to our usual stringent health and safety protocols, we are also enforcing CDC recommended preventative measures. An overview of the detailed measures provided to parents is outlined below.

COVID-19 PANDEMIC DROP OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES
All children are to be dropped off and picked up at the front door only. Children over the age of two and their caregiver must wear a mask and maintain social distance. A staff member will perform a temperature check of each child and admit one child at a time into the facility. Current and potential parents may enter the facility once all the children have been dismissed for the day.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM DURING COVID-19
New hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Once the pandemic is over we will resume normal hours of 7 AM to 5:30 PM.

SICK POLICY & PROCEDURES DURING COVID-19
If a child has any of the following symptoms, the parents must inform the school and keep the child at home:

Low-grade fever of 100.4 F
Achy body, vomiting, or any usual or unusual symptoms

If a child becomes sick during school hours they will be quarantined in a vacant unused room and parents will be called to pick them up as soon as possible.

If the child and/or anyone in the child’s family tests positive for COVID-19 and had been in contact with NHMA staff or children, school staff and parents will be notified immediately. Thereafter, the school will be closed and quarantined for two weeks. Parents will be further notified and guided through every step of the way to assure everyone’s safety.

KEEPING AREAS CLEAN
Our faculty have implemented even more rigorous daily cleaning and sanitation measures of all high-touch surfaces in areas to include but not limited to the classrooms, bathrooms, and playgrounds.

FOOD PREP PROCEDURES
Teachers will continue to wear gloves when preparing snacks for children and family-style servings have been discontinued. Each child will be served individually.

FACE COVERINGS
NHMA is adhering to all state and local health guidelines to ensure compliance with health and safety orders. One such mandate is for Pennsylvania employers to provide face coverings to their employees which must be worn at all times while on-site.
